Banmali Agrawala and Naushad Forbes - new chairman, deputy chairman CII West Print E-mail

Mumbai: Mr Banmali Agrawala, Executive Director - Strategy & Business Development, Tata Power Company Ltd is an established member company of the Tata group of companies. He has been elected as Chairman, Confederation of Indian Industry, Western Region at its meeting held in Mumbai on 4 April 2008. Apart from being an eloquent speaker and a well respected name in Industry, Mr Agrawala has held several important positions at CII.

He is a member of the CII National Council, Deputy Chairman of CII Western Region for the year 2007 - 08, Chairman of the Maharashtra State Council of CII Western Region for 2005 - 06, Chairman of the Energy Sub Committee of the CII Western Region and Chairman of the Mumbai Chapter of "Young Indians" in 2003-2004, which is also a part of CII.

Mr Agrawala has completed his graduation in B E Mechanical Engineering with distinction from Mangalore University in 1984. His professional experience includes working from 1984 -1987 with Bajaj Auto in the R&D department on emissions control and engine testing. Soon after he joined the Wärtsilä Group in 1987 and during his tenure of 20 years in the organisation, has grown to assume various positions of responsibility. In 2003, he was promoted as Managing Director, Wartsila India Ltd and during September 2006 was given additional charge of the global Bio Power business and appointed as Vice - President Bio Power of the Wartsila Corporation.

Dr Naushad Forbes, Director, Forbes Marshall, India's leading Steam Engineering & Control Instrumentation company and also the Chief Executive Officer of the Steam Engineering Companies within the group. He has been elected as the Deputy Chairman of the Confederation of Indian Industry, Western Region for 2008 - 09.

Dr Forbes received his Bachelors and Master's Degrees from Stanford University; and his PhD in Industrial Engineering He also holds the B.A.S. in Industrial Engineering & History from the Stanford University. He has been a Consulting Professor in the Management Science & Engineering program at Stanford University since 1987. He has a number of publications to his credit including the following: Forbes N. and D. Wield, From Followers to Leaders: Managing Technology in Newly Industrializing Countries 2002, Routledge

Further he was instrumental in developing courses in Technology and Policy in Newly Industrialized Countries and the Management of Technology in Firms in Newly Industrialized Countries.
