Mr Sajjan Jindal, Vice Chairman and Managing Director of well known JSW has taken over as new President of the Associated Chamber of Commerce and Industry of India (ASSOCHAM ) with effect from Tuesday following the conclusion of chamber’s 87th Annual General Meeting here in New Delhi.

Mr. Jindal who holds the degree of Bachelor of engineering in Mechanical stream from Bangalore University took the presdendship of ASSOCHAM from Mr. Venugopal N Dhoot Chief of Videocon Group who laid down the office of ASSOCHAM presdendship following completion of his tenure.
 
The new ASSOCHAM Chief steers the US$ 3.7 billion JSW Group has been closely associated with the ASSOCHAM for many years and was the senior Vice President of the ASSOCHAM before becoming its president today.
 
In his statement issue here, Mr. Jindal said that he would promote five causes during his presdendship of ASSOCHAM in 2008-09 which include making Latin America as Indian Inc’s major business partner, suggesting measures for Government to tame the inflation and cause agricultural growth to go up to about 5%. The other two areas in which Mr. Jindal will work harder comprise increased commitment of Indian Industry towards corporate social responsibility as also enhance manufacturing growth which currently suffers slowdown.
