Pune (India): A new Thermal Treatment plant using the latest Gas Nitriding Process, at Turbo Gears Ltd was inaugurated in Pune (India) in the presence of Tomaso Carraro, Chairman and Global CEO and Guido Ghilardi, Global Managing Director of Gear World, last month on the 7th. Turbo Gears Ltd is a company in the Carraro Group specialising in the production of quality components and gear systems.

The know-how and industrial presence of Gear World in India is reinforced

This event thus strengthens the know-how and industrial presence of Gear World in India. Gear World is a project of the Carraro Group’s started in 2007 with the objective of fostering the independent development of companies operating in the transmission and gears sector on a worldwide level (SAG in Argentina, SIAP in Italy, Turbo Gears in India and miniGears in Italy, United States and China which is the latest global acquisition).

With additional investments in emerging technologies and manufacturing infrastructure – for an overall value of over 20 million Euros – the Turbo Gears production site is enhanced by a new key know-how, with the introduction of a production phase of strategic importance.

The integration of the new thermal Gas Nitriding treatment plant within the production layout, will also enable Turbo Gears to further improve the level of service to its consolidated customers and to tackle the market with new competitive leverage.

Alongside its traditional outlet markets – construction and agricultural machines – the Indian company aims at expanding its presence in strong growth areas such as Wind Turbine generators.

Thanks to this new advancement/enhancement, it is expected that Turbo Gears, which commenced activities in 2005, will grow significantly, increasing its turnover to over 200 Crores by 2010. Similarly, the plant’s employees head count will exceed 450.

One month from the inauguration of South America Gears, the new company based in Buenos Aires specialising in the highly technological production of gear systems, today’s strengthening of Turbo Gears is another move forward in the strategy for consolidating the Gear World group – made up of a total of 8 production sites in Italy, Argentina, India, China and United States – which recorded a turnover of over 223 million Euros at the end of 2007.

“This is a new important stage for Gear World on the road to future growth. The decision to add and integrate the thermal treatment plant into Turbo Gears is consistent with the requirement for high-level technology products demanded by the market and our customers – commented Tomaso Carraro, Chairman and global CEO of Gear World - Today, we are proud to have set up in TGL in Pune, one of the most important gas nitriding centres in India. I am certain that, thanks to our staff, to their know-how and also to the reinforcement of the production site in Pune, we have laid the foundations that will give further impetus to our business both to serve the Indian market better and to offer our international partners new high added value products”.
