Workshop on Calibration of Dimensional Measuring Equipment & Evaluation of Uncertainty in Measurements
11-12 July 2008 at Habitat World, India Habitat Centre : New Delhi
New Delhi: IMTMA is organising a two-day workshop on “Calibration of Dimensional Measuring Equipment & Evaluation of Uncertainity in Measurements”, on 11-12 July 2008 in "Maple Room", Habitat World in India Habitat Centre, Lodhi Road, New Delhi (Entry through Gate No. 3 of India Habitat Centre), in order to focus on the importance of calibration, the needs and methodologies of calibration, in diverse range of manufacturing activities.
Obtaining accurate, reliable and traceable measurements is one of the basic requirements in order to achieve required levels of product quality, in any manufacturing activity. The instruments / equipment used for measurements should be initially and also periodically calibrated to ensure fidelity of measurements. The process of 'Calibration' assumes greater significance in the light of advanced technology where interchangeability and functional reliability of critical and closely toleranced components and assemblies are of paramount importance.
Focus Areas
Introduction to Calibration Relevance of Calibration to ISO 9000 / QS 9000 / Accreditation by NABL Care in Calibration Calibration methodologies Laboratory accreditation as per ISO/IEC 17025:2005 Concepts and calculation of Uncertainty in Measurement Reference equipment & Traceability aspects in Calibration Environmental effects on Calibration Documentation on Calibration Practical examples in Calibration with Group exercises
Faculty
The workshop will be addressed by Mr. B N Taranath, formerly Head of Precision Engineering, Central Manufacturing Technology Institute (CMTI), Lead assessor for NABL and International Accreditation Service Inc. (USA) and an acknowledged expert in the field of Precision Measurements & Metrology. The workshop will be highly interactive where participants could raise questions and solicit feedback from the faculty.
