Principal Secretary, Govt. of Karnataka calls for Government-ACMA cooperation to promote automotive industry in the State

Bangalore – The Automotive Component Manufacturers Association of India (ACMA) has taken the initiative to open its first State office in the country in the capital of Karnataka - Bangalore.

In recent years, the state of Karnataka has inarguably established itself as the hub of the international auto manufacturers. Leading global auto manufacturing giants such as Toyota, Volvo have set up their manufacturing plants in the state.

ACMA BangaloreThis activity in turn has lead to an ever-increasing number of domestic auto component manufacturers setting up their small and medium size production plants in the state to supply auto components to these auto manufacturing companies.

Karnataka has always been a prominent player in the manufacturing sector which houses some of the global automotive players like Toyota, Volvo, Bosch, etc.  The State Govt. has always supported the growth of the automotive sector and particularly the auto component sector.

There is a rapid growth by the sector in this region.

As an endeavour to support the growth and development in the State, ACMA is happy to open this office in Bangalore, which would serve its members based in Karnataka and Hosur region,.

Mr. V. Umesh (IAS), Principal Secretary, Government of Karnataka, was the Chief Guest at the historic event of ACMA.  In his inaugural address, he expressed happiness at ACMA office being opened in the State.  He reiterated the State Government's commitment to further the growth of the manufacturing sector and suggested Government-ACMA partnership in developing a conducive policy for the growth and development of the automotive and auto component industry in the State.  He called for a meeting of ACMA and the State Government in August to initiate the discussions.

Welcoming the Chief Guest and other prominent personalities from the Industry, Mr Srivats Ram, Chairman, ACMA Southern Region complimented the members of Karnataka & Hosur for getting the office ready in a record time.  He sought the State Governments continued support in furthering the states automotive and auto component industry.

In his address, Mr. Sanjay Labroo, President, ACMA mentioned that this was a landmark event in the history of ACMA as this is the first State office of the Association in the country.  Referring to the Automotive Mission Plan of the Government of India, Mr Labroo sought the State Government to play a key enabling role in facilitating infrastructure creation, market the country's capabilities, create a good business environment and attract investment.
