Hyderabad: In order to facilitate business fusion between Public Sector Undertakings and Large Scale units, and Defence Departments, and Micro and Small Scale Units , the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Institute (MSME-DI) , Balanagar, is organising a four-day national exhibition-cum-vendor development programme from September 18th to 21st at People’s Plaza, Necklace Road.

A seminar will also be conducted on 18th September 2008, on Registration and purchase procedures of PSUs, Requirements and Quality Standards of PSUs, Policy measures and Schemes for MSEs, Export procedures.

Vijaya Kumar, Director of MSME-DI said that many entrepreneurs would visit approximately 300 stalls from various sectors at the exhibition.

MSME-DI [formerly Small Industries Service Institute], Hyderabad organises Vendor Development Programme (VDP) every year for the benefit of Micro Small and Medium Entrepreneurs. The MSME-DI has in the past few years, organised several such VDPs for the Indian Navy, Visakhapatnam Steel Plant, HAL, HMT, East Coast Railway, South Central Railway, Bharat Dynamics Ltd. etc.

This provides an opportunity for the small seller to meet the large buyer on a single platform and to also know the expectations of the large buyers.

The Vendor Development Programmes acts as a platform for the PSUs to disseminate information about their requirements to the intended vendors and to also explain the various procedures and documentation involved in the process.

The VDP also hosts an exhibition of the products/services required as also the capabilities of the vendors.

Such VDPs have, in the past, resulted in several fruitful partnerships worth crores of rupees.  Tie ups with PSUs not only provide assured business opportunities with SMEs but also assist them to be quality conscious and increases its competitiveness.

The boom in the manufacturing sector, increase in exports and a dynamic domestic market, coupled with good performance of PSUs is bound to provide several opportunities in the SME sector.
