The High Volume Manufacturing Solutions Seminar, held this July at the Makino Technology Centre, Manesar-Gurgaon, was aimed at promoting greater awareness and understanding about the application and relevance of CNC Machining in High Volume Manufacturing process across different sectors, including automobile, auto-component and general engineering.

The Seminar was a runaway success as it witnessed large number of quality visitors including auto giants Maruti Suzuki, Escorts & Hero Honda and also generated lots of business enquiries and deals.

The seminar offered distinct propositions for high volume manufacturers while providing them with multitude solutions that help in incremental gains. The Seminar spotted over 60 participants from 24 companies. It was an opportunity for these manufacturers to learn how Makino technology is helping companies,
even those beyond its traditional strong hold of the manufacturing sector, achieve operational efficiency and competitive advantage.

The promise of strength, rigidity and reliability that Makino machines offer was demonstrated through 'live' test-cuts which also involved latest cutting tools from Sandvik Coromant Ltd. The event was designed to bring together opinions and experiences from across 3 areas namely,

- Role of CNC in High Volume Manufacturing - presentation by Mr. Raghav Badhya, General Manager, Production Machinery, Makino India Pvt Ltd.
- Latest in Cutting Tools & Manufacturing Economics - Mr. Nitesh Gupta, Sales Manager, North, Sandvik Coromant Ltd.
- Test Cut - Mr.Sandeep Dhiman, Engineer, Production Machinery,Makino India Pvt Ltd.

The discussion was aimed at bringing out the applicability of CNC maching across all steps of manufacturing and the sector specific processes that benefit from the implementation of this methodology. The real life cases focused on the following points:

- Rationale behind using CNC technology in High Volume process versus traditional turning centres
- The major processes and operations that were influenced
- The resultant improvement in processes
- The competitive advantage derived
- The justification for the expense and effort

The presentations, enhanced with deep insights and substantiated with real-life case studies, covered an entire gamut of applications of High Volume Manufacturing. These ranged from improving specific manufacturing processes with clearly quantified gains (reduced cycle time) to the unquantified and
immeasurable benefits from increasing customer satisfaction through better services (accuracy & surface finish)and from the possibilities of helping out small and medium enterprises to transforming entire organizations (through turnkey).

With MAKINO's next seminar round the corner, Makino once again promises to provide an excellent platform for service providers to showcase their products & services to decision makers from across the manufacturing industry.
