New Delhi: More than 500 top leaders, quality practitioners, academicians and business managers are expected to attend the 3 day CII Institute of Quality’s (CII-IQ) 16th Quality Summit which commences on 6th November at the Bangalore International Exhibition Centre, Bangalore. The theme for this year’s Summit is “India @75: The Quality Dimension”.

Prof. C.K. Prahalad’s “India @75” lecture delivered in New York in 2007 shall be further irrigated during this Summit ; deliberating on the various Quality nuances needed to attain a better Quality of Life through social quality and global economic competitiveness within  75 years of India’s independence.

 While Industry, Education and Healthcare verticals shall be the key sectors of focus during the Summit, special emphasis shall be on the People aspect and their Performances to attain desired Progress. CII-IQ, always in the forefront of the Indian Quality movement, organizes such annual thought provoking Summits to chart roadmaps for change and improvements to attain global competitiveness.

The inaugural plenary of the 16th Quality Summit will be addressed by Mr T C Venkat Subramanian, CMD, EXIM Bank of India with Mr Venu Srinivasan, CMD, TVS Motor Company and Vice President, CII delivering the Keynote Address. Mr N Kumar, Vice Chairman, Sanmar Group and Past President, CII shall deliver the Welcome Address with Mr N Srinivasan, Special Adviser, CII-IQ and former Director General, CII giving his Closing Remarks.

One key event in the first day’s session will be the announcement of the results of the CII-EXIM Bank Award for Business Excellence, 2008. For the first time, a separate award category for the Small & Medium Businesses has been created where they have a model to evaluate their journey to excellence.

The Panel discussion “India @ 75: Serving Society thru Quality: The CEO Perspectives” will have Mr Vipin Sondhi, MD & CEO, JCB India presenting the industry perspective, Dr Lloyd Nazareth, COO, Wockhardt Hospitals the healthcare perspective, Mr Vijay Thadani, CEO, NIIT the education perspective with Mr Ashok Reddy, MD and CEO, TeamLease Services speaking on the works skill perspective. Mr Vikram Singh Mehta, Chairman, Shell Companies in India shall address the Special Plenary, “India @ 75: What Global Practices can take us there?”

The second day would have 5 Plenary Sessions.

    * Organisational Effectiveness through Quality Practices & Performance
    * Improving Business Performance and Competitiveness through Best Practice Benchmarking
    * Customer Focus in Product Design : The Key to Quality Leadership
    * Building Resilient Organisations
    * Improving Quality Practices through Cross Learnings

Mr Saikiran Krishnamurthy, Partner, McKinsey & Co., Dr David Yarrow, Development Manager, Comparison International, UK, Mr Ajay Vasudev, Director – R&D, Nokia India, Mr T S  Nanjundaswamy, Deputy Director, Reliability & Components Area, ISRO Satellite Centre, Mr A Venkataram, MD, BSI Management Systems India, Mr Frank Post, Director, BSI, UK, Dr Asha Naik, Medical Superintendent, Narayana Hrudayalaya, Mr L Satyamurthy, Programme Director, Telemedicine, ISRO, Mr Girdhar Gyani, Secretary General, Quality Council of India are the eminent speakers who shall be addressing the various sessions.

The concluding day would have 2 Plenary Sessions.

    * India @75 : The Unsung Heroes and their Silent Revolution

Mr Chris Majer, CEO, Human Potential Project, USA, Mr K V Rama Mohan, Group Head- IMS & BPO Quality, Infosys Technologies, Dr Hanumappa Sudarshan, Secretary, Karuna Trust, Mr Shanker Gopal Krishnan, Core Committee Member, Kuruvila Jacob Memorial Educational Trust & President, Madras Consultancy Group and Mr Gopal Patwardhan, Chairman, Autoline Group of Companies shall be the speakers for the above sessions.

The exciting Special Plenary Session of the day will be by Mr Gopal Srinivasan, Chairman, CII Mission on India@75 and Director, TVS Electronics who will roll-out the CII Agenda on India@75.

The Valedictory Session shall be addressed by Dr K Kasturirangan, Director, National Institute of Advances Studies with Prof. Dipankar Gupta, Centre for the Study of Social System, Jawaharlal Nehru University speaking on “ India @75: Evaluating the Societal Impact”. Mr R Srinivasan, MD, RAS Transformation Technologies shall deliver the Closing Remarks to conclude the 16th Quality Summit.
