Makino India strengths Indian market ambitions

Makino India Pvt. Ltd. today inaugurated its Third Technology Center at Ranjangaon, Pune. The Technology Center is built to global standards on 1 acre land with 20000 sft built-up area and was today inaugurated by global President Mr. Jiro Makino of Makino Milling Machine Company Ltd, along with eminent Industrialist Mr. Atul Kirloskar, Chairman & Managing Director, Kirloskar Oil Engines Ltd. Makino host a 2 day TECHNOSHOW at the plant on 17/18-11-2008 wherein it will showcase its latest technology along with its associates in tooling and accessories. On this occasion, Makino will also launch its new Wirecut (WEDM) machine named Duo-43.

The plant area is around 60% of this area. The investment in Plant & Machinery is around Rs.140 million which comprises of a fully air-conditioned plant to take care of climatic control for CNC machines. It also comprises of a Die Mould showroom for mould making applications, a turnkey Application center for part production industry, fixture manufacturing facility, Spares warehouse, and Design Office and Customer Seminar & Training halls.

Speaking on the occasion in his Inaugural Address Mr. Jiro Makino, Global President said, "We are committed to the Indian industry and we are one of the largest and fastest growing foreign investor in the machine-tool industry in India. In the last 6 years, we Invested USD 25 million to expand its manufacturing facility, to set up a training center at Bangalore, Technology Center at Delhi and now to establish this Technology Center at Pune, as part of our Regionalizing Strategy. Nationally, Makino India grew leaps and bounds with 7 Branch offices all over for Sales, Application and 12 service centers to extend Service support to customers. Pune center has 3mn USD assets in plant & machinery."

In his key note address, Mr. K.S. Sankaran, Chairman of Makino India Pvt Ltd said "Makino India is 100% subsidiary of Makino Asia, Singapore- which in turn is part of Makino Japan. From the humble beginnings in 1996 at a branch office at Bangalore, grown into a Technology Center in 1998 at International Technology Park Ltd (ITPL) at Bangalore,  established as a company in 2002 with new investments in Whitefield, Bangalore for export manufacturing of machine tool components, and turnkey fixtures,  launched in 2006 its first compact vertical machining center manufactured at Bangalore , established its 2nd Technology Center at Delhi near Manesar in 2006, established its Technical Training center at Bangalore in 2006, and Makino India has successfully inaugurated its 3rd Technology Center at Ranjangaon, Pune."

Speaking at the occasion Mr. A.N. Chandramouli, Chief Executive Officer and Director, Makino India Pvt. Ltd. said, "Industrial growth of Western India has been a key driver for Makino's growth in India and therefore Makino wants to support this sector by being closer to customers and serving their needs in terms of Machining solutions, Application Engineering, Pre-Production trials, Turnkey Production and After Sales Service. We offer the latest technology in High Speed Milling, and EDM for Production and Die mould applications. Speed of response will improve by this proximity to customers in West Region such as Pune, Kolhapur, Aurangabad, Nashik, Nagpur, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Baroda, Rajkot and Indore."
 
Mr Atul Kirloskar, the Chief Guest of the function, analysed the current economic situation lucidly and emphasized how cost competitive solutions can help in building strong foundation for its customers before the next business cycle revival.

Last year, Makino made a global turnover of around 1.2 billion USD, in Asia 300 million USD and in India 100 million USD including 20million USD of Turnkey Solutions. In India, our customer base includes Tata Motors, Mahindra & Mahindra, John Deere, JCB, New Holland, Simpsons, Kalyani Forge, Bharath Forge, Caparo, Ashok Leyland, TVS motors, Brakes India, Rane, Tafe, Simpson, Sundaram Clayton, Sundaram Fasteners, Wabco, Mando, Hindustan Motors, suppliers of Mico Bosch, KTTM, Kirloskar Oil Engines, Kirloskar Pneumatics, Bajaj Auto, Nypro Forbes, Foxconn, Maruti Suzuki, Hero Honda, Minda Industries, Escorts, Rico Auto, Amtek, Subros, Tata Cummins and a whole host of leading Die & Mould, and Automobile OEMs, several Tier1, 2 &3 companies, to mention a few. West Region is the biggest region for Makino machines so far.

Makino India is unique in providing total tooled up solutions known as turnkey engineering to automobile and other mass production customers in India as well as Asian countries. It has a Fixture Center at Makino Bangalore, at Manesar, Delhi and a new Fixture Center now at Pune. There are over 100 engineers dedicated to this value added business, of the total 400 employees. Makino has over 1600 machining centers across the nation, of which West Region has around 400 machines.
