BEML putting up 4th Manufacturing Complex in Palakkad District of Kerala Print E-mail

Palakkad : BEML LIMITED, a leading multi-technological and multi-locational Mini-Ratna Category-I Company under the Ministry of Defence will be putting up its 4th Manufacturing Complex at Kanjikode KINFRA Integrated Industrial Area in Palakkad District of Kerala.

Speaking at a press Conference held in Palakkad Kerela on 17th January 2009, CMD BEML LIMITED said that the new Complex of BEML at Palakkad will be a dedicated Centre for the manufacture of Defence equipments including Mil Wagons, Floating Bridges, parts and aggregates for Rail & Metro Cars. This centre will also be an exclusive base for the manufacture of indigenously designed and developed Aluminum and Stainless Steel 100 Ton Freight Wagons and most of other products in phase II Expansion. Present during the press conference were Shri Satyajeet Rajan, Joint Secretary(Exports), Ministry Of Defence), Mr Ramnath MD, Kerela Infrastructure Development Corporation and Mr Srinivas, District Collector, Palakkad.

Hon'ble Chief Minister of Kerala Shri VS Achuthanandan, laid the Foundation Stone at a Public function held on 18th January 2009 at 1130 hrs in the esteemed presence of Hon'ble Minister of Defence Shri AK Antony, Minister of Industries and Commerce Shri Elamaran Kareem, Dy Speaker of Kerela legislative Assembly Shri Jose Baby, Minister of Electricity & SC/ST Welfare Shri AK Balan, Leader of Opposition Kerela legislative Assembly Shri Oomen Chandy, MP of Palakkad Shri NN Krishnadas, Secretary Defence Production Shri Pradeep Kumar, Principal Secretary to Prime Minister of India Shri TKA Nair, CMD of BEML LIMITED Shri V RS Natarajan and various other dignitaries from State.

Over four decade old, BEML is in the field of design, develop and manufacture of heavy earth moving equipment, Rail Coaches and Metro Cars, varied types Heavy Duty Trucks for the Defence. The 2700 Crores Company has its headquarters at Bangalore and Manufacturing Complexes at Bangalore, Kolar Gold Fields and Mysore, all in Karnataka supported by 10 Regional Offices, 15 District Offices and 4 Zonal Service Centres spread all over India. The Company has 3 Overseas Offices in China, Malaysia and Brazil and exports its products to over 52 countries.

BEML has set a target of 3000 Crore to achieve in 2008-09 and the Company has an order book of over 4000 Crore as of date which is set for further increase. The Company has set for itself a goal viz., BEML Vision – 2013 whereby new ventures, further expansion and achieving a turnover of 5000 Crore during the Financial year 2013-14 coinciding with its Golden Jubilee Year.
