Three world class machines developed/produced indigenously

Bangalore: TAL Manufacturing Solutions Ltd. (TAL), the wholly owned subsidiary of Tata Motors, today showcased their new range of next generation machines at IMTEX 2009 - H-500 Plus Horizontal Machining Center,  V- 800 Plus Vertical Machining Center and the MTV B-500 Vertical Turning Center.

These new Standard Products not only expand its existing range of Vertical Machining Centers Series (V400 and V500+ etc.) but also initiate two new platforms viz. Horizontal Machining Centers and the Vertical Turning Centers.

TAL-Maus Spa collaboration : Looking at export markets

Roberto Sammartin, General Manager - Maus Spa, said, "These products are completely manufactured in India. The cooperation is already producing results and we are very proud of what we have done. Our aim is to export these machines to Europe because these machines are made exactly to our own specifications. Even the most important item, the spindle, is made to our specification"

The TAL-Maus Spa collaboration was anounced during the last IMTEX (2007). Maus Spa is a Carraro Group Company and specializes in Vertical Turning Centers. Vertical Turning Centers are widely used in the segments like automotive, aerospace, bearings and energy and off-shore equipments.

TAL-Heller collaboration : Technology Centre coming up in Pune

Simultaneously TAL is also displaying a high performance Horizontal Machining Center MCH-280, for special automotive applications, from its global partner - Heller. The TAL-Heller collaboration will bring these machines at competitive prices in India and fully support the same, through the TAL service network. TAL & Heller have setup a number of similar product lines in India recently, for a number of automotive and precision engineering manufacturing companies. The TAL service support network, with a large team trained at Heller is already operational. A full fledged Technology Centre is being setup at TAL Pune, which will showcase the latest state-of-the-art technology Heller machines. This Tech Centre will be equipped to provide full support on application engineering, training and other customer services.

Andrew Parkin, Chief Representative Asia, Heller said that India would be a key partner for the company's Asian strategy. Heller is an internationally acclaimed manufacturer of Machine tools. It is a leading manufacturer of machining centers, special purpose machines and flexible manufacturing systems. With over a century’s experience, Heller is one of the most reputed and renowned Machine Tool companies in the world.

Mr Ravi Kant, Chairman, TAL Manufacturing Solutions said, “Tata Motors has always focused on offering world class cost effective products for the markets we serve. In line with that tradition, TAL has developed a number of machining solutions, harnessing learning from both the Tata Motors experience as well as collaborative knowledge through its global partners. I hope these three wide ranging products will serve the demand of the domestic and overseas market effectively.”

Mr. Atam P. Arya , Managing Director, TAL Manufacturing Solutions said, “TAL with nearly four decades of working for Tata Motors, has built up substantial expertise  in complex machining solutions. During the last few years, we have endeavored to convert this learning, for developing cost effective standard products that are robust and reliable. Further we have strengthened these products, from the knowledge gained through our collaboration partners. Our new offerings at IMTEX 2009 show case the result of this effort.”

These new multi-purpose machines will enhance the manufacturing range substantially, and increase productivity with reduced cycle times through a variety of features. The machines will provide significant cost effective solutions, by eliminating the need of using multiple machines to complete a task. The new range of machines bring enhanced rigidity and will provide robust & reliable solutions, with all advantages that have till recently been available through, much costlier and usually unaffordable, imported products. These products will be ideal for machining a wide range of materials from light special Aluminum alloys to special steels & exotic Titanium, for manufacture of precision components covering automotive to aerospace applications.
