Joint Venture Agreement between Indian Railways, Autokast and SILK Print E-mail

ALAPPUZHA : The Joint Venture agreement for the proposed Kerala Rail Components Limited was signed by Principal Secretary (Industries) Mr. T Balakrishnan, on behalf of the Kerala Govt, and Mr. G N Asthana, Adviser Mechanical, Indian Railways.

In first phase, facilities at Steel Fabrication Unit which was under Steel Industrials Kerala Ltd (SILK) will be utilised for manufacturing of Rail bogies. Employees and assets of Autokast will be absorbed in a phased manner within 3 years.

The JV is expected to manufacture above 1000 bogies of different design and approx 500 side walls of goods wagons. In addition to this units will be carrying on its existing business line also.

Hon Minister Industries Mr. Elamaram Kareem presided the function and Hon. Minister Finance Dr. Thomas Isac inaugurated it.

Eminent personalities present were Hon. Minister Co-operation, Mr. G Sudhakaran, Mavelikkara MP CS Sujatha and Alappuzha MP Dr. KS Manoj. MLAs AM Arif, P Thilothaman, KC Venugopal, Pricipal Secretary Amithab Kanth, Chief Controller of Patents PH Kurian, Dist/Block/Village Presidents, Trade union leaders etc.
