Management changes in Nissan affiliate companies in India

Nissan Motor India Private Ltd. (NMIPL) and Renault Nissan Automotive India Private Ltd. (RNAIPL) has announced top management changes. Nissan Motor Co.,Ltd.(Nissan) has appointed Akira Sakurai, currently General Manager of Vehicle Production Engineering Division as the new Managing Director (MD) & Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of RNAIPL, effective on April 1, 2009.

Shohei Kimura, current CEO of NMIPL and MD & CEO of RNAIPL will return to Nissan in Japan and is promoted to Corporate Vice President, New Vehicle Production Development Division. Kiminobu Tokuyama, current MD & COO of NMIPL is appointed to the position of MD & CEO of NMIPL, effective on April 1, 2009.

Commenting on the management changes in India, Colin Dodge, Senior Vice President of Nissan said “our objective in India is to establish Nissan as one of the major players in the domestic market in the next few years as well as playing role of the export hub for global markets. Kimura has, in his short stint very effectively and efficiently managed the progress of our green field plant even in difficult economic scenario and I am confident Sakurai will take this project ahead successfully along with Tokuyama in India.”

Nissan will be rolling out its first locally manufactured vehicles in India in 2010.
