Suprajit Engineering setting up new manufacturing plant at Haridwar Print E-mail

Mumbai : Suprajit Engineering Ltd, a leading manufacturer of automotive cables, is setting up its tenth automotive cable plant in India, at Haridwar to support one of its major customers - two wheeler manufacturer, Hero Honda Motors Ltd.

The ground breaking ceremony for the new facility was held on June 08, 2009. The Haridwar facility is expected to begin operations by the beginning of 2010.

According to Mr. K Ajith Kumar Rai, promoter and managing director, Suprajit Engineering Limited, tax holidays and excise duty exemptions at the new plant will ensure lower output costs.

Suprajit's five cable manufacturing plants in Bangalore meet the requirements of customers in the south while it's Manesar, Chakan, Vapi and Pantnagar plants meet the requirements of the North and Western regions. The company is also planning to set up a new plant at Sanand in Gujarat. Suprajit Engineering's exclusive export unit is located at Bommasandra in Bangalore.

The company's clients include TVS Motor Company, Hero Honda Motors, Bajaj Auto, Telco, Yamaha Motor, Hyundai Motors (Tier-II), Ford (Tier-II), Honda Motorcycles & Scooters, L M L, Lear Corporation, Eicher Motors, General Motors (Tier-II), Mahindra & Mahindra, Swaraj Mazda, Piaggio, JCB, CLASS, Kinetic Engineering, TAFE, Whirlpool Washing Machines, New Holland Tractors, Magna, Jaguar and Land Rover.

Sales for the 2 months of current quarter (April & May 2009), is up by 23%., compared to the same period last year. In October & November 2008, the total sales was Rs 32.10 crores against Rs 28.08 crores for the same two months last year, clocking a growth of 14.30%, despite steep negative growth in auto sector during this period.
