Volkswagen starts Production of Skoda Fabia from Chakan plant Print E-mail

Pune : Mr. Joerg Mueller, Volkswagen Group Chief Representative India, President and Managing Director, Volkswagen India Private Limited formally announced the Start of Production for the Skoda Fabia from the Chakan plant.

Today, the company also announced that Armin Keller has been appointed to head sales in India and the Far East. Armin Keller succeeds Adrian Michael Hallmark, who is leaving the company.

He holds a business degree and has been with the Volkswagen Group for 20 years. He shared responsibility for marketing at Volkswagen in Japan from 1991, moving to sales in North and Latin America in 1994, and taking charge of global sales to car rental companies and international key accounts in 1998. He was given responsibility for the SEAT brand in Italy in 2002 and was appointed managing director for sales and marketing at Auto 5000 in Wolfsburg in 2005.

On 15th August, Volkswagen celebrated India’s Independence Day at its Chakan Plant, Pune bringing together all the employees of the Volkswagen Plant in Chakan. The celebrations started with the planting of saplings by Mr. Joerg Mueller, Volkswagen Group Chief Representative India, President and Managing Director, Volkswagen India Private Limited; along with the Board Members and all the employees at Volkswagen India’s plant at Chakan.

Mr. Mueller, addressed the employees, "On the occasion of this Independence Day, the planting of saplings and watering them with the recycled water from our production facility is our symbolic contribution for a cleaner, greener and healthier environment."

In July 2009, the Volkswagen Group recorded 6.7 percent growth, with deliveries totaling 556,900 (July 2008: 521,100) units*. This means that 3.65 (January - July 2008: 3.79; -3.5 percent)** million vehicles were delivered to customers during the first seven months of this year.
