Bangalore: Auto component supplier, Delphi Corporation, has announced the expansion of its India Technical Center in Bangalore and its plans to hire an additional 150 engineers in the future.

"Our vision is to continue providing significant engineering capability to meet the growing global needs harnessing Indian technical talent.  The expansion of our Technical Center (TCI) showcases how important India has become for the future growth for Delphi," said Ashok B. Ramaswamy, President & Managing Director, Delphi India.

Delphi India's Technical Center is the largest Delphi research Center outside of the United States. According to the company, the newly expanded Center will help Delphi meet the growing demand of affordable technologies for the automobile sector worldwide.

At Delphi's Technical Center of India (TCI), which was established in Bangalore in the year 2000, engineers work on advanced engineering that includes embedded software, mechanical engineering, product engineering design and other automotive engineering related fields. The expansion will enhance the center's designing and testing capabilities with increased focus on areas such as Software Development, Software Verification, Systems Electrical Design, Mechanical Design, Validation and Program Management. To keep pace with the increasing prevalence of electronics in vehicles, the Center is steadily increasing product engineering capabilities.

The lab space has been tripled, in order to accommodate the additional 150 engineers that Delphi intends to hire in future. The center also features better labs for complete vehicle electronics testing facility.

"The expansion of our Technical Center is a clear testimony of Delphi India’s growing engineering and research capabilities.  Over the years, the Center has grown rapidly and has provided invaluable support to customers not only in India but also in the region and globally," Mr. Ashok B. Ramaswamy said.

According to the company the Auto Market in India is poised for a greater than ten percent Compound Annual Growth Rate for the coming years and this Center complements Delphi's strong manufacturing base in India and in the Asia Pacific region.
