Surya Global Steel Tubes Ltd, a subsidiary of Surya Roshni Ltd, today commissioned it's newly set-up spiral steel pipe manufacturing plant at Anjar (Kutch) in Gujarat. Shri. Narendra Modi, Chief Minister of Gujarat, inaugurated the new plant.

The company has invested Rs. 200 crore in the first phase and is expected to invest an additional 200 crore in a phased manner. The plant is expected to have a production capacity of 3,00,000 tonnes by the end of 2010. It will primarily cater to the export market. Nearly eighty percent of it's production is expected to be exported.

The plant is located on 100 acres of land near Bhuvad village at Anjar (Kutch) in Gujarat. It is expected to create employment opportunities for nearly 200 people.

The company currently exports nearly 18 % of the production from it's steel pipe and tube manufacturing unit (3 lakh TPA) at Bahadurgarh in Haryana. The new plant's proximity to the Mundra port will cut down on logistics costs. In addition to addressing domestic demand, the new facility will export to approximately forty countries.

The company had signed the MoU with the Gujarat Government, for setting up this plant, during the Vibrant Gujarat Global Investors Summit.
