Nelcast completes Phase II of Capacity Expansion at facility in Gudur Print E-mail

Mumbai: Nelcast Ltd has completed the Phase II of its Capacity Expansion at its new facility at Gudur in Andhra Pradesh and started the commercial production. This expansion has resulted in increase of it's installed capacity from 1,26,000 tonnes to 1,50,000 tonnes per annum. The production was started in end Sep. 2009. After successful completion of initial runs, the Company started scaling-up.

Phase I of the expansion was completed in 2007 end and resulted in the installed capacity increasing from 1,02,000 tonnes to 1,26,000 tonnes per annum.

The Gudur plant specializes in casting and machining ductile iron parts. The company's second plant at Ponneri in Tamil Nadu specializes in casting ans machining grey iron and ductile iron parts.

Nelcast manufactures Grey and SG Iron Castings, having application in the automobile sector such as engine, transmission, suspension, axle, brake, steering, and housings. In addition, It also operates in the farm equipment industry, railways and pipe fitting industries.

It manufactures around 200 different castings in SG and Grey Iron. Cylinder Blocks, Flywheels, Flywheel Housings, Housings, Hubs, Spring Shackle, Brackets, Transmission Case, Axle Housings, Exhaust Manifolds are some of the items produced by the company that find application in the commercial vehicle and in the Tractor segments.

For the quarter ended 30th September 2009, Nelcast Ltd registered a total income of Rs 76.88 crore against Rs 100.36 crore in the corresponding period last year. The company registered a profit after tax (PAT) of Rs 2.23 crore, for the last quarter against Rs 5.26 crore in the corresponding quarter last year.
