Irizar-TVSís coach building facility at Viralimalai inaugurated Print E-mail

Viralimalai : The coach building facility of Irizar-TVS, a joint venture company between Ashok Leyland, T V Sundram Iyengar & Sons Ltd (TVS & Sons Ltd), and Irizar S Coop of Spain, was inaugurated by K N Nehru, Minister for Transport, Government of Tamil Nadu.

The new facility raises the total capacity of the Viralimalai plant to 2200 coaches. Built with an investment of Rs.30 crores, the new facility has a built-up area of 2 lac sq ft with 3 production lines and 7 paint booths, with a capacity to produce 150 coaches per month with space and infrastructure to expand capacity as need arises.

The new facility also has a shower test bay that simulates extreme weather condition in which the finished coach is checked for water leak. The various sub-assemblies and bus/coach assembly are carried out under one roof. 

The modern infrastructure for R & D and Coach building enables the company to bench mark processing time to international standards and enhance production on a continuous basis. Fixturisation would help the company ensure mass production to world class quality. This facility would enable multi variant products to be manufactured under a single roof.

K N Nehru also unveiled iT09, the newly developed super luxury coach, in the presence of Mr. R. Seshasayee, Mr. Jose Manuel Orcasitas, Mr. R Dinesh, Directors of Irizar-TVS. 

Irizar-TVS Limited is a joint venture between three partners,  T V Sundram Iyengar & sons Limited, Ashok Leyland and Irizar S. Coop of Spain. The company was incorporated in the year 2001 with manufacturing facilities at Viralaimalai and Pudukkottai. With technology transfer to build contemporary bus bodies from Irizar S Coop of Spain and chassis from Ashok Leyland Limited and bus body building skills of T V Sundram Iyengar & Sons Limited, Irizar-TVS will build bus bodies in super luxury segment and will meet International Standards.
