Ahmedabad: Inox Wind Ltd, part of the $2-billion Inox Group, and a subsidiary of Gujarat Fluorochemicals Ltd (GFL), announced the commencement of commercial production of Wind Turbines from it's wind turbine generator manufacturing unit in Basal Village, Una District, Himachal Pradesh. The unit manufactures nacelles and hubs for 2 MW Wind Turbines.

Inox Wind Ltd dispatched the first Wind Turbine unit, comprising Nacelles and Hubs for 2 MW Wind Turbine, on March 26, 2010.

The 2-MW wind turbine is being manufactured under licence from AMSC Windtec. The Nacelles and Hub for 2 MW wind turbine is based on double-fed induction generator wind turbine design provided by AMSC Windtec. AMSC provides the electrical systems for the 2 MW wind turbines manufactured by Inox.

AMSC helped the company localize the supply of key wind turbine components, establish its manufacturing line, and build and test Inox`s first prototype wind turbines.

Inox Wind Ltd is investing around Rs 150 crore to set up manufacturing facilities at Una in HP and Bawla in Gujarat. The facility in Bawla, near Ahmedabad, is making blades and towers for wind turbines.
