Jamshedpur: Tata Steel Processing and Distribution Limited (TSPDL), engaged in the processing and distribution of steel, has been awarded the JIPM award for 2009 for achieving excellence in TPM in plant operations, by Japan Institute of Plant Maintenance (JIPM). TSPDL management received the award on March 11, 2010, at an annual event organized by JIPM in Kyoto, Japan. The award was won in Category A for the year 2009.

The company won this award for its hot rolled and cold rolled steel processing centres located in Jamshedpur.

The assessment was carried out by the Confederation of Indian Industries, authorised by JIPM as the TPM Award Assessment Agency. JIPM recognised TSPDL’s achievement for effective implementation of TPM activities leading to significant benefits in productivity, product quality, cost reduction and improvement of organisational culture.

TSPDL is the largest organised steel service centre company in the country with revenue exceeding Rs1,300 crore and having a compounded annual growth rate of more than 50 per cent over the last 12 years. It employs over 1,300 people and now has eight service centres spread across India processing both flat and long steel with 15 distribution locations.

TSPDL has many 'firsts' to its credit, which include automated Rebar processing, advance steel processing for auto components and plate fabrication. It has partnered with major OEMs like Tata Motors and Caterpillar for supply of specially designed and manufactured components.
