Kemrock & HAL ink MOU for JV to make aerospace grade Carbon Fiber Pre-pregs Print E-mail

Vadodra: Kemrock Industries and Exports Ltd, a manufacturer of FRP and composites in India, and Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to form a joint venture company in India to develop and manufacture the aerospace grade carbon fiber pre-pregs along with its associated pre-pregs for the defense and aerospace programmes in India.

The MoU also covers the marketing and distribution plans. Kemrock and HAL together have identified opportunities for development and marketing of aerospace grade Carbon Fiber Pre-pregs, which has immense potential in aerospace and defense programmes in India as well as globally.

The MoU was signed on 15th November by Kalpesh Patel Chairman and Managing Director of Kemrock, Ashok Nayak Chairman of HAL and Dr. Soundara Rajan P - Director (Corporate Planning and Marketing), HAL.

Kemrock Industries and Exports Ltd commissioned it's Carbon Fibre Facility near Vadodara in Gujarat in May 2010. The company has invested nearly Rs. 200 crore in setting up this facility, with technical know-how from Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) and National Aerospace Laboratories, Bangalore.

The carbon fiber manufacturing facility is fully integrated, which includes polymerization, wet spinning, oxidization & carbonization and includes all utilities for effluent & waste management. This integration will ensure the right quality of precursor (special acrylic fiber) for aerospace grade carbon fiber

The company’s product range comprises of carbon fiber, windmill blades & nacelle covers, railway interiors/exteriors, telecom towers, pultruded profiles, pipes and many more FRP/ GRP composite products.
