Ministry of Heavy Industries releases Rs. 232.14 Cr to NATRIP during 2010 Print E-mail

New Delhi: The Ministry of Heavy Industries & Public Enterprises has released a sum of Rs. 232.14 Cr to National Automotive Testing and R&D Infrastructure Project (NATRIP) for meeting various project commitments during the year 2010-11.

NATRIP has been sanctioned for setting up of the testing, homologation & R&D facilities/centers for the automotive sector at seven locations in the country.

A full-fledged testing and homologation center is being set up at Manesar in Haryana and Chennai in Tamil Nadu- the northern and southern hubs of automotive industry.

The project also involves up-gradation of existing testing and homologation facilities at Automotive Research Association of India(ARAI), Pune and at Vehicle Research and Development Establishment (VRDE), Ahmednagar.

A National Center for Testing of Tractors and Off-Road Vehicles and the national facility for accident data analysis and specialized driving training will be set up at Rae Bareiily, Uttar Pradesh. A National Specialized Hill Area Driving Training Center and Regional In-use Vehicle Management Center will be set up at Silchar (with two Campuses at Dholchura & Jaffirbund) in Assam.

In addition to this, World-class proving grounds or testing tracks will be set up at Pithampur, Indore, Madhya Pradesh.
