Pune: Williams Controls, a producer of Electronic Throttle Controls for commercial vehicles, has inaugurated its new manufacturing facility in Pune, India. The plant will manufacture electronic pedals for Williams' growing base of customers in India's truck, bus and off-road markets.

Validation testing for the plant was completed in December 2010, with production scheduled to begin in February.

The Indian market is one of the company's top markets for commercial vehicles worldwide and is expected to continue to grow as the Indian government moves to implement more stringent vehicle emission standards.

"It is a proud day to see firsthand the realization of our vision, five years after we began to engage with the leading Indian commercial vehicle manufacturers," said Patrick W. Cavanagh, Williams Controls' President and Chief Executive Officer. "We have developed a world class facility and strong management team here in India, and we look forward to growing together in this dynamic market."

With sales, engineering, and manufacturing facilities in Pune, India, Williams believes it is well positioned to help meeting growing demand. Its customers include many of the global leaders in the truck, bus, and off-road markets.

Williams Controls is headquartered in Portland and employs more than 250 people worldwide.
