Praful Patel takes over as Minister of Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises |

New Delhi: Shri Praful Patel has taken over his Ministry of Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises, here today. The portfolio was earlier held by Vilasrao Deshmukh. Before assuming this charge, Patel was Minister of Civil Aviation.
While taking charge of his new assignment, Patel stated that he would renew the efforts of re-energising the public sector enterprises under the Department of Heavy Industries.
Praful Patel was elected as a Member of Lok Sabha in 1991 at the age of 34, he graduated in Commerce from Sydenham College of Mumbai. He represents Bhandara-Gondiya Lok Sabha constituency in Maharashtra in Vidarbha region.
Meanwhile Shri Vilasrao Deshmukh took over as the Union Minister of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj. He has been a Minister in various governments in Maharashtra from 1982 to 1995 holding portfolios of Home, General Administration, Cooperation, Public Works, Transport, Legislative Affairs, Tourism, Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, Dairy Development Fisheries, Industries, Education and Technical Education Sports and Youth Welfare. He was the Chief Minister of Maharashtra from 1999-2003 for the first term and from 2004-08 for the second term. |
