Greaves Cotton inks Long Term 3-wheeler engine Supply Agreement with M&M Print E-mail

Mumbai: Greaves Cotton has entered into a Long Term Supply Agreement with Mahindra & Mahindra Limited (M&M) for supply of single cylinder engines for their three-wheeled vehicles. The Agreement comes into force with immediate effect and is for a period of five years.

Greaves will be the single source supplier for 100% needs of M&M for their three-wheeled vehicles.

Mahindra & Mahindra's 3-wheeler sales grew by 104% having sold 5928 units in December 2010 compared to 2909 units in December 2009. The company sold 44471 units during the first 3 quarters of FY 2011 compared to 31910 units in the same period last year.

Recently, Greaves Cotton won a 10 year contract from Tata Motors to supply small diesel engines for Ace Zip, a half-tonne truck that is expected to be launched in the first quarter of next fiscal. The company also has an  eight year contract with Piaggio for the supply of engines for it's mini truck - Ape.

Greaves Cotton plans to invest Rs 100 crore in a new engine manufacturing plant at Aurangabad in Maharashtra.
