Bangalore: Pipavav Shipyard Ltd has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Northrop Grumman Overseas Service Corporation, Delaware, USA at Aero India 2011.

"This memorandum covers the exchange of programmatic and planning information in accordance with the export laws of the governments of India and the United States. It also allows both companies to identify synergies and develop operational concepts that may benefit future potential customers," said Raj Kumar Sharma, India Country Manager, Northrop Grumman Electronic Systems International.

The MoU will allow Pipavav to focus on huge opportunities present in the defence sector in India with the help of technology and expertise possessed by Northrop. The Company endeavors, through such prestigious partnerships with the global majors, to indigenously produce military hardware for India and other friendly nations.

"This Memorandum of Understanding represents the first step in exploring potential business relationships between Northrop Grumman’s Electronic Systems sector and the Pipavav Shipyard in India resulting from synergies in technology, experience, and capabilities for the mutual security interests of the United States and India," said Raj Kumar Sharma.
