Russia's M&IG N.V to set up assembly plant for Chetra tractors in India Print E-mail

Mumbai: Chetra Machinery India Pvt. Ltd. (CMIPL), a subsidiary of Russia's Machinery and Industrial Group N.V., plans to set up an assembly plant for Chetra tractors in India.

The company is expected to finalize a suitable site for the plant and begin development by the first half of 2011. It is likely to be located in the vicinity of Chennai, due to the city's proximity to a port. The plant will have a capacity to produce 200 machines a year by 2015.

According to M&IG Vice-president for global markets Mr Vladimir Lepin, setting up the production unit here will strengthen the Russian producer's position not only in India, but in the whole South East Asia region as well. "Russian specialists will carry out educational and qualification-raising programs for the Indian engineers participating in CHETRA production and services," he said.

CMIPL will also set up a parts warehouse in India along with the assembly unit for Pipelayers and Dozers. Currently the spare parts are imported from the Russian unit directly to customers, on case to case basis. The proposed parts warehouse will be the centralized parts supply unit for Indian customers.

M&IG manufactures & trades more than 40 types of the heavy crawler machinery under the brand name of 'CHETRA'. Products Offered in India include Crane Pipe Layer, Wheel Dozer, Crawler Dozer, Wheel Loader, Excavator, Skid Steer Loader, Track Shifter, and Pipeline Repair Equipments. The company plans to line-up at least 5 more new products in India by 2012. It also plans to bring it's 'Agromash' brand Agriculture machines to Indian market

M&IG started its business association with India from 2004.  It's customers in India include  KSS Kazstroy India Ltd, Reliance Industry Ltd, Punj Lloyd Ltd, Essar Project India Ltd, Corrtech International Ltd, Jaihind Projects Ltd, Coal India Ltd, Mahanadi Coalfields Ltd, Neyveli Ligntite corporation etc. As of now more than 250 nos of CHETRA Pipe layers & Dozers are working in various sites around India.

Chetra Machinery India Pvt. Ltd. was incorporated in 2008 for promoting the CHETRA brand industrial products in India. Chetra’s association with India started in 2004 when 19 numbers of 100-ton pipe layers were sold.

M&IG N.V has 17 manufacturing units across Russia and Europe and 4 tractor scientific research institutes, 5 trading Units and 1 service unit. M&IG has more than 30,000 employees.
