Rane TRW Steering Systems Ltd. ventures into Power Steering Fluid business Print E-mail

Chennai: Hydraulic Power Steering System manufacturer, Rane TRW Steering Systems Ltd (RTSSL) has ventured into manufacturing and marketing it's own Power Steering Fluid – 'Power Cruze'. This is the first time in India that a power steering manufacturing company is diversifying into the allied product of power steering fluids.

The new product is meant for Commercial Vehicle application. In due course, The company plans to launch a Power Steering Fluid for Passenger Cars, in addition to launching new variants and product extensions in the CV category.

"With this new venture, we are moving a step closer to the end consumer," said L. Ganesh, Chairman, Rane Group.

The company will market this product through it's distributor network in India. It will also utilize it's After Market Service Network and company Authorized Service Centers.

"Rane TRW Steering Systems is geared to explore newer opportunities in the auto-component space as Performance demands in the automotive industry continue to increase and automakers strive to deliver higher performance and improved efficiency," said Mr Harish Lakshman, Managing Director, Rane TRW Steering Systems Ltd.  "With the entry into Power Steering Fluid market, Rane TRW is delivering market driven innovation that enables superior efficiency in power steering that makes the equipment easier to handle and extends its life."

Rane TRW Steering Systems Ltd is a 50:50 JV between Rane Group and TRW Inc., USA. The company caters to OEMs such as Tata Motors (Passenger Cars and Heavy Commercial vehicles) , Ashok Leyland, Daimler India Commercial Vehicles, Volvo-Eicher, Asia Motor Works, Mahindra & Mahindra, Renault India, Ford Motors ,Hyundai Motors, Fiat India, etc.

RTSSL's annual turnover for the year 2010-2011 exceeded Rs 500 crores. The company recently bagged an export order of more than Rs 50 crores from Renault further adding to their growing sales turnover.

The company has brought in high pressure steering gear technology (THP Series gears) from TRW Inc to meet the driving needs of emerging commercial vehicle market in India. 

The Rane Group comprises seven companies, manufacturing safety and critical components for a broad range of automotive industry segments. In fiscal 2009-10 the group recorded revenues of Rs.1708 Crores.
