Pune: Diversified industrial manufacturer Eaton Corporation has opened an integrated test lab for it's vehicle and hydraulics products at Ranjangaon, India.

The lab is located within the existing truck components plant premises and has 38,000 square feet of testing area. It can test numerous hydraulics components such as gear, vane and piston pumps, steering control units and valves for performance and endurance limits. In addition to the hydraulics components, the lab has capabilities to test vehicle products such as valve trains, synchronizers and roll over valves.

The facility will also house a supercharger test stand in the future.

"The new integrated test lab is an investment in efficient product design and innovation for our customers," said Alexander M. Cutler, Eaton chairman and chief executive officer. "Eaton has established a strong and growing engineering presence in India through the Professional Services Center in Kharadi, Pune, and the new lab will add significant value to our local manufacturing and engineering efforts."

The lab can conduct hardware tests to validate current and future designs for both global and regional products.

India sales to triple to $500 million by 2015

The company expects it's India sales to triple to $500 million by 2015. Eaton plans to set up a new facility in India sometime this year to foray into manufacturing of equipment for the power distribution sector. The company is also keenly eyeing acquisitions in the electrical and hydraulics sectors in India.

Eaton is also bullish about the opportunities posed by the burgeoning aerospace sector in India. The company has hydraulic, pneumatic, fuel and electrical system solutions for the aerospace market. It is already doing aerospace engineering in Pune.

Eaton has four manufacturing plants with over 2,300 employees in India. It plans to hire 200 people this year, for engineering and professional services, at it's R&D centre in Pune.

Eaton, with 2010 sales of $13.7 billion, generates 55 percent of it's revenues outside the United States. It generated revenues of $3.4 billion from emerging markets in 2010
