Dr. V K Saraswat inaugurates J. C. Bose Microwave Tube Facility at BEL Print E-mail

Bangalore: Dr. Vijay K Saraswat, Scientific Adviser to Defence Minister has inaugurated the newly established J. C. Bose Microwave Tube Facility of the Microwave Tube R&D Centre in Bangalore.

The J. C. Bose Facility is an integrated microwave tube development unit that houses state-of-art precision fabrication machines, high-voltage test facilities, environment test facilities and High-Power Microwave (HPM) generation and diagnostics facilities.

The Microwave Tube R&D Centre is co-located at BEL, Bangalore for synergistic R&D and productionisation. It is a constituent laboratory of Defence Research & Development Organisation (DRDO) and carries out frontline research on microwave tubes for defence applications of radars and electronic warfare systems.

During the function, one of the latest products of MTRDC, a Microwave Power Module (MPM) produced by Bharat Electronics was handed over to the Program Director (Akash). It is significant that the first FLR System is rolling out from BEL with this MPM.

In his address to the scientists and technologists of the Centre, Dr. Saraswat expressed that the MPM produced for FLR system is a perfect example of BEL-DRDO synergy. He stated that DRDO should initiate the work on VMED & HPM DEW to meet the futuristic requirement of services.

Shri H. S. Bhadoria, Director, BEL, Bangalore in his address assured all the support to DRDO for producing the products developed by DRDO.

Chief Controllers of R&D, DRDO, Dr. W. Selvamurthy and Dr. K. D. Nayak and Director BEL Bangalore Shri H. S. Bhadoria were present on the occasion.
