Automotive Axles Ltd to launch a new two-speed axle in mid-2011 Print E-mail

Mysore: Automotive Axles, Ltd. (AAL), a joint venture of Kalyani Group and Meritor Inc., will launch a new two-speed axle, the MS 13 240, in mid-2011. The axle offers advanced traction control, improved fuel efficiency and higher levels of performance. It also plans to introduce advanced solutions in drum and disc brakes, new products for off-highway applications, and drivetrain and suspension products for military vehicles.

The company has just celebrated its 30th anniversary with more than 1,000 customers, suppliers and employees at its manufacturing facility in Mysore.

As part of the celebration, AAL displayed its 1,000,000th 'golden' axle produced in India as a symbol of the strength of the partnership. The axle will be retained by the company as a momento of this significant occasion.

AAL produces a wide range of rear drive axles for commercial vehicles ranging from six tons to 35 tons GCW; S-Cam actuated quick change air brakes for commercial vehicles and trailer axles for 10 tons to 13 tons GVW. With manufacturing facilities located in Mysore, the company is the largest independent manufacturer of rear drive axle assemblies in India.

"This partnership has enabled us to provide evolving drivetrain solutions highly customized for the India landscape."

Automotive Axles Limited (AAL) was established in 1981 as a joint venture of Kalyani Group and Meritor, Inc., USA. The Kalyani Group's annual turnover is more than USD 2.5 billion. It focuses rimarily four sectors: Engineering Steel, Automotive & Non-Automotive Components & Equipments, Renewable Energy & Infrastructure and Specialty Chemicals.
