Mumbai: Elecon Engineering Company Ltd has received an order from Bharat Heavy Electrical Ltd. (BHEL) for Design, engineering, manufacture, supply and erection & Commissioning of CHP Machine package for Bellary TPS, UNIT- 3 of 700 MW.

The order is worth Rs 39.39 Crores. A Combined Heating and Power (CHP) system recovers waste heat by burning of fossil fuels and converts it to other useful energy where otherwise power is used for generating the same.

A basic system generates electricity using a gas-fired engine. The process produces large amounts of waste heat, which can be recovered and used as an source of energy and used for air conditioning or water heating. So more energy contained in the natural gas can be used, compared to other methods of power generating systems.

It is an energy conservation innovation that is generating interest in commercial, industrial, and even residential settings.
