While announcing the launch of its SK-8 Series of Excavators, the company also shared their distribution plans for the Indian market.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Keniji Sakamoto, Executive Director, Kobelco India said,  We are launching our latest SK-8 series machine, the latest line-up which was internationally launched in Japan, USA, Europe and the rest of the world in June 2006. Supported by a burgeoning demand driven by fast-paced infrastructural investment for improvement of roads, airports, seaports, and the power sector, the market for construction equipment in India is experiencing steady growth. The demand is projected to expand even further over the coming years. This is the reason behind launching this series in India. Moreover, the SK-8 excavators are known for their higher productivity, lower fuel consumption, lower operating costs and very environment friendly”

"We have been approached by a few Southern states. We are, however, conducting a feasibility study on the proposed plant. The study will be completed in the next three to four months and on the basis of it, we will identify the location for the plant," Sakamoto said.

Vikram Sharma, President and CEO, Kobelco India said, “ We have sold close to 100 machines since April which is highest in such a short span of time. We plan to focus on major infrastructure and construction markets in India through our strong industry recognized dealership network. Our major strength lies in our high end performing products. Our company offers ex-stock deliveries by which customer’s immediate needs can certainly be catered.”

Kobelco machines are latest 8th series machines with most advanced technology, fully built units imported from Kobelco Japan. Kobelco’s product concept revolves around 3E’s i.e.Enhancement, Economy & Environment. These excavators are most environment friendly with TIER III complaint HINO CRDi engine.

Kobelco currently holds 30% in the joint venture, and is planning to hike its stake once its manufacturing facility comes up.
