Pune: Cummins India Limited registered net sales of Rs. 1,009.6 crores for the quarter ended March 31, 2011, an increase of 30 percent over the same period last year.  For the year ended March 31, 2011, net sales of the company were Rs. 3,945.4 crores, an increase of 39 percent over the last year.

"Margins have however been impacted as commodities and other input costs continued to escalate significantly," said Anant Talaulicar, Chairman & Managing Director, Cummins India Limited.

Net profit before tax for the quarter ended March 31, 2011, at Rs. 196.4 crores was 19 percent higher as compared to the same period last year. For the year ended March 31, 2011, net profit before tax was Rs. 802.4 crores, representing a 31 percent increase over last fiscal.

"Our balance sheet remains strong and we continue to invest in technologies, products and manufacturing capacities as we remain committed to serve our customers well and deliver on our brand promise of dependability," he said.

"The company has demonstrated record performance for the year ended March 31,2011 based on strong sales growth in our key markets, capacity expansion and strong customer relationships," said Anant Talaulicar."Our continued focus on improving efficiencies and reducing costs helped the company sustain profitable growth. We are well positioned in the market and I remain confident of our company's ability to sustain our leadership position and long term profitable growth."

The Audited results for the Quarter ended March 31, 2011

The Company has posted a net profit after tax of Rs 1439.70 million for the quarter ended March 31, 2011 as compared to Rs 1183.10 million for the quarter ended March 31, 2010. Total Income has increased from Rs 8072.40 million for the quarter ended March 31, 2010 to Rs 10705.60 million for the quarter ended March 31, 2011.

The Company has posted a net profit after tax of Rs 5909.90 million for the year ended March 31, 2011 as compared to Rs 4438.70 million for the year ended March 31, 2010. Total Income has increased from Rs 29664.30 million for the year ended March 31, 2010 to Rs 41228.70 million for the year ended March 31, 2011.
