After the acquisition of 51 per cent shares of Tata Refractories by Krosaki Harima Corporation (KHC), Japan, from Tata Steel, Tata Refractories has changed its name to TRL Krosaki Refractories (TKRL), for which necessary approval has been received from the Registrar of Companies, Orissa.

With the combined turnover of KHC and TKRL at Rs6,000 crore, the group has emerged as the fourth-largest refractories company of the world.

Yasuo Hamamoto, president and representative director, Krosaki Harima Corporation, along with a team of senior executives visited TKRL, Belpahar Works, during June 2 – 3, 2011.

Addressing the employees of TKRL, Hamamoto stated that KHC was honoured to have acquired majority stake in TKRL, the number one refractories company in India. He stated that TKRL and KHC would work closely to share the best practices between these two companies to further strengthen the group position in the global refractories market. Hamamoto further stated that the company would work towards the growth of TKRL and the welfare of its employees and the society.
