Steel and Industrial Forgings Ltd to supply forgings for BrahMos Print E-mail

Thiruvananthapuram: Steel and Industrial Forgings Ltd (SIFL) has bagged an order worth Rs 11 crore to manufacture critical parts for the BrahMos missile. SIFL's facility, located at Athani, will produce aluminium and titanium forgings.

SIFL is also in the process of getting the AS9100 certification, to undertake aerospace work. This is expected to be finalised soon. The company is already an established vendor to units under the Ministry of Defence, having supplied Rs 30 crore worth forgings for the nuclear submarine project of the Indian Navy.

The work from BrahMos will generate business volumes of around Rs. 3 crore a year for SIFL.

BrahMos Aerospace Thiruvananthapuram Limited (BATL) – a unit of BrahMos Aerospace currently has around 20 vendors for machining. The company has earmarked a Rs. 4 crore capex this year, to add capacity to produce missile components.

In FY 2010 - 2011, BATL registered a turnover of Rs. 17 crores. This year, it is expected to reach Rs. 35 crores.
