Mumbai: Jyoti Ltd has entered into an exclusive collaboration agreement with Japan’s DMW Corporation for manufacturing cooling water (CW) pumps for large irrigation and power projects in India.

Jyoti will now manufacture a range of CW pumps for irrigation projects as well as large thermal and nuclear power plants with capacities of 800 and 1,000 MW at the company's Vadodara plant.

DMW Corporation is a 101 year old Japanese company, specializing in manufacturing pumps for Nuclear & Thermal power projects and large irrigation projects.  The company gets 5 per cent of its $210 million turnover from India, which is expected to increase to 15 per cent in the next five years.

DMW Corporation has supplied 360 Circulating Water Pumps for thermal power plants and 29 Pumps for nuclear power plants upto capacity of 1000 MW. The largest Circulating Water Pump manufactured and commissioned by DMW is for Electric Power Development Co., Japan with capacity of 91,020 m3/hr, Head of around 20 Mtrs. and Motor rating of 6200 KW.

India would require more than 1,000 CW pumps in the next five years for large projects. India is projected to have a Rs 1,000 crore market in this segment in the next five years.

Jyoti Ltd expects to achieve a turnover of Rs 500 crore this fiscal. The company expects to increase its current market share in CW pump business from 30 per cent to 50 per cent. It expects to double its turnover in the next five years.

Jyoti has commissioned pumping systems for more than 60 irrigation and power projects including prestigious 3x500 MW NTPC Aravali Power Project where the largest Vertical Wet Pit type pump was manufactured and commissioned with the capacity of 30,000 m3/hr., Head of 27 Mtrs. and Motor rating of 2800 KW.  The company has also commissioned Godavari Lift Irrigation Scheme Phase-II in Andhra Pradesh where the largest Metallic Volute Pump was manufactured and commissioned with the capacity of 25,200 m3/hr and Head of 131 Mts. and Motor rating of 12,800 KW. Jyoti has also executed switchyard projects up to 110 kV. Jyoti Ltd. is in the advanced stage of setting up state-of-art Test Bed with capacity up to 50,000 m3/hr and Motor rating upto 4 MW which will be ready by end August, 2011.
