Cochin Shipyard lays keel for 2 Rolls Royce UT 755CD Platform Vessel Ships Print E-mail

Cochin: Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL) has conducted the Keel laying ceremony of two Platform Vessel Ships (BY85 & BY86) being built for SCI. These vessels are the first of the Rolls Royce UT 755CD design being built by CSL. This will be the 25th and 26th PSV being built by CSL in a time span of 5 years.

P Vinayakumar, who was formerly General Manager (SSD,FP & TI) in CSL, has taken over charge as Director (Technical) of Cochin Shipyard from V Radhakrishnan, who has retired on superannuation. The Keel of BY85 was laid down by V Radhakrishnan and the keel of BY86 was laid by Ravikumar Roddam, Director (Finance) in the presence of B Chakravarthy, GM (Technical Services), SCI.

These two ships are medium segment Diesel Electric PSVs designed to cater to meet the all round needs of the Offshore oil and gas industry.

The vessels, with length of 78 M and breadth of 16 M, meet the highest levels of environmental safety denoted by the 'Clean Design' notation of Det Norske Veritas and will be dual classed by Indian Register of Shipping,

In addition to the normal offshore supply operations, the vessel is capable of carrying methanol and is equipped with Firefighter-I equipment and Dynamic positioning Grade 2 equipment. Accommodation of high standards meeting Comfort Class requirements is arranged for people.
