Chennai: Sudarshan Venu, son of Venu Srinivasan, Managing Director of SCL and Chairman of TVS Motor Company Limited (TVSM), has joined the Sundaram-Clayton Limited (SCL) Board as an Additional Director. Krishna Mahesh, his 36 year old cousin, has returned to Sundaram Brake Linings (SBL) as Chief operating officer.

Sudarshan's elder sister Lakshmi Venu was also inducted as a board member of SCL a couple of years ago after she trained through different levels of TVS Motors.

The 22 year old Sudarshan Venu is a graduate with Honors at the Jerome Fisher Program in Management and Technology at the University of Pennsylvania, U.S. He also obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the School of Engineering and Bachelor of Science in Economics, both from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania. The Wharton School maintains a long tradition of educating visionary business leaders and academicians.

He recently completed his Masters in International Technology Management from the Warwick Manufacturing Group, an academic department at the University of Warwick in the United Kingdom.

While pursuing his Masters, he underwent hands-on training in Die Casting Division of Sundaram-Clayton Limited and in TVS Motor Company Limited.

Krishna Mahesh joined SBL in July 2005 as ED after working 11 years abroad. In February 2009 he quit the post as well as from the board. That time, there was a severe down turn in the automobile sector which had adversely hit ancillaries like SBL. It is a leading manufacturer of friction materials.

He had a distinguished academic background having acquired MS in Mechanical engineering from Standford University. He worked in McKinsey & Co between in 1998 and 2001 and had intensive training in Toyota Motor from 2001 to 2003. He did his MBA from Harvard in 2005.
