New Delhi: Cumulative production data for April-August 2011, released by SIAM, shows production growth of 15.92 percent over same period last year. Production in August 2011 grew at 12.67 percent as compared to August 2010.
The domestic sales growth rate recorded for April-August 2011 was 13.26 percent. However, the month of August 2011 registered a lower growth rate of 11.85 percent as compared to August 2010. During April-August 2011, overall automobile exports registered a growth rate of 30.93 percent. In August 2011 compared to August 2010, overall automobile exports registered a growth of 36.13 percent.
Passenger Vehicles segment grew marginally at 1.94 percent during April-August 2011 over same period last year. Passenger Cars recorded de-growth at (-) 1.26 percent, Utility Vehicles grew by 8.70 percent and Vans grew by 21.06 percent in this period. In August 2011, Passenger Cars recorded de-growth at (-) 10.08 percent, Utility Vehicles and Vans recorded growth of 12.31 percent and 6.70 percent respectively. And growth in overall Passenger Vehicles declined at (-) 5.87 percent in the month of August 2011.
The overall Commercial Vehicles segment registered growth of 17.80 percent during April-August 2011 as compared to the same period last year. While Medium & Heavy Commercial Vehicles (M&HCVs) registered growth of 7.07 percent, Light Commercial Vehicles grew at 27.44 percent. However, in the month of August 2011 over August 2010, the growth in sales of the overall segment was 22.62 percent.
Three Wheelers sales recorded de-growth at (-) 0.27 percent in April-August 2011. While Passenger Carriers registered decline at (-) 4.17 percent during April-August 2011, Goods Carriers registered growth of 17.00 percent.
Two Wheelers registered a growth of 15.94 percent during April-August 2011. Mopeds, Scooters and Motorcycles grew by 13.64 percent, 17.75 percent and 15.71 percent respectively.
If we compare August 2011 to August 2010, the growth figures for two wheelers was also lower at 16.10 percent. Three Wheelers registered decline and the growth rate was (-) 8.63 percent in the month of August 2011.
Passenger Vehicles registered export growth at 22.44 percent in this period. Two Wheelers, Commercial Vehicles and Three Wheelers segments recorded growth of 30.04 percent, 30.04 percent and 50.11 percent respectively during April-August 2011. |
