Chennai: L&T Plastics Machinery Limited (LTPML) has installed a new Moving Line for the manufacture of Injection Moulding Machines at its Chennai facility.
This facility is designed to offer productivity of 3 machines per shift with a TAKT (production cycle) time of 2.5 hours. The Moving Line uses the latest power tools for assembly, on-line production tracking and visual displays of operating procedure of each stage of manufacturing.
The machines are assembled and tested on 10 moving platforms with ANDON visual display of manufacturing status, quality checks and process times through an on-line computer system.
The Moving Line was inaugurated on September 2, 2011, by J.P. Nayak, Advisor to the Chairman, L&T, along with S. Raghavan, Senior Vice-President & Business Head, MIP, S.R. Subramanian, Executive Vice-President, Industrial Machinery, and P. Kailas, Chief Executive, LTPML.
uided by S.R. Subramanian and P. Kailas, the Moving Line concept was developed by M. Kumar, Head – Manufacturing, and a team consisting of Benny Mathew, G. Rajagopal, Prashant K.R., B. Ramesh, D.A. Premkumar, Alok Ghosh and Mohan Kumar. The project was executed economically within 6 months. |
