Sunil K Gupta takes over as new CEO of Voltas Material Handling Print E-mail

Mumbai: Sunil K Gupta has been appointed Chief Executive Officer of Voltas Material Handling Pvt. Ltd. (VMH) with effect from 30 September 2011. The members of the VMH Board to whom  Gupta will report are Gordon Riske, CEO of the KION Group, Milind Shahane, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of the Engineering Products Business Group at Voltas Limited, and Daniele Signorini, the former Managing Director of OM.

VMH develops, manufactures, sells and services forklift trucks and warehouse technology. It was established as a joint venture between the KION Group and Voltas Limited.

"With Sunil K Gupta we have acquired a director who brings with him many years of experience in the Indian material handling market. He has also worked in sales and marketing for many years and has excellent contacts in the industry. He is therefore extremely well acquainted with the conditions in this growth market and the requirements of our customers in the region. We look forward to working with him," said Gordon Riske, CEO of the KION Group.

"Voltas Material Handling has the potential to become the market leader in India. The executive team and employees are highly motivated. With the KION Group’s technological expertise, we will accelerate our product development and improve our own technological capacity. The new plant in Pune provides us with the essential means for meeting the growing demand in the Indian market for material handling solutions going forward," said Sunil K Gupta.

Gupta, who studied electrical engineering, last held the post of Associate President at Action Construction Equipment Ltd. From 2007 to 2010, he was Vice President of Manufacturing Operations at Escorts Construction Equipment Ltd. This is where  Gupta had started out as a sales engineer in 1985 before working in various management positions, including as GM & Head of Customer Support and as CGM & Head of Manufacturing & Customer Support.
