18 in-House R&D Units of Industries Granted Recognition in H1 CY 2011 Print E-mail

New Delhi: Eighteen In-house R&D units of industries were granted recognition and 48 In–house R&D units of industries were granted renewal of recognition till the month of June this year. Under Scientific & Industrial Research Organization (SIROs), 4 recognitions and 14 renewal of recognitions were granted.

Two Public Funded Research Institutes were granted renewal of recognition under Fiscal Incentives for Scientific Research while seven In-house R&D centres were approved under section 35 (2AB) of I.T. Act 1961 for weighted tax deduction.

The detailed R&D expenditures of the approved companies were examined and 4 reports in Form No. 3CL for financial values of Rs.1290.84 crore have been sent to DGIT (E) as required under the I.T.Act. Under Technology Development & Demonstration Programme, 7 Projects were successfully completed.

Autonomous Bodies under Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR), The project on design, development & certification of Light Transport Aircraft (LTA) SARAS continued to make steady progress. Two projects were successfully undertaken which include CSIR-NAL , Bangalore the project on Spearheading Small Civilian Aircraft design, development and manufacture and the activities of Project on Acquisition of Oceanographic Research Vessels by CSIR-NIO.

Total number of patents filed in India was 14 and number of patents filed abroad was 9. The total number of patents granted in India was 7 and 29 patents were granted abroad. CSIR-IIP, Dehradun and CSIR-NEIST, Jorhat signed MoUs respectively with Reliance Industries Limited, Mumbai for study on Clarified Slurry Oil (CSD) and its conversion into Petroleum Pitch Precursor for advanced carbon materials and with ARDA-Thailand for Scientific and Technology cooperation; and an agreement with Mr.Pabitra Gogoi, Tinsukia, for transfer of agro technology on Citronella.

Under Consultancy Development Centre (CDC), 102 applicant have been offered admission to the 15th batch for MS Programme in Consultancy Management.

Under Public Sector Enterprises, National Research Development Corporation (NRDC) licensed 6 technologies and it collected Rs. 52 lakhs (2010-11) and Rs.0.60 lakhs (2011-12) of Royalty on various projects.

Central Electronics Limited (CEL) continued its activities in the area of solar photovoltaic systems, electronic gadget for Railway and other electronic equipment / components. The company manufactured electronic components/systems worth Rs.830 lakhs and realized sale of such items worth Rs.726 lakhs.
