Pune: Fischer-Brodbeck GmbH or Fibro (part of the Lapple group), a manufacturer of standard parts for the sheet metal and moulding industry & rotary tables for machine tools, plans to set up a manufacturing plant at Chakan with an investment of Euro 1.5 million. The plant, which is expected to be operational in one year's time by October 2012, will be the company's first overseas manufacturing unit.
Henning Klempp, director, business area standard parts, Fibro said that currently the company is focusing only on standard parts.
He said that manufacturing in India is about 30-35% cheaper than manufacturing in Europe. "This upcoming manufacturing unit reiterates our commitment to Indian market, bringing the best class German quality products to Indian tooling and die casting industry," he added. The new plant will also help in reducing lead times. The company will also explore exports to other Asian countries apart from the European markets.
Fibro is targeting a revenue of Euro 2 million from the Indian market in calendar year 2011. Its total revenue for the year 2010 was 90 million Euros. This year it is targeting a consolidated revenue of Euro 190 million.
The company is a vendor to Gestamp - which makes the body in white for Volkswagen from its greenfield plant in Volkswagen India's vendor park - supplying press tools etc. |
