Mahindra & Mahindra rolls out 13,636th Yuvraj 215 tractor in Rajkot Print E-mail

Rajkot: Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. rolled out its 13,636th Yuvraj 215 tractor from its state-of-the-art Rajkot plant. The roll out was done in the presence of Mr. Anand Mahindra, Vice Chairman and Managing Director, Mahindra Group and the senior management team of the Farm Equipment Sector. The plant has also scaled up its capacity from 1800 tractors to 2500 tractors.

The company has been producing mini tractor in collaboration with Field Marshal Group since 2009 at Rajkot. Being the country’s most economical tractor at Rs. 1.86 lacs, the 15 HP Yuvraj became a sell away hit after it was launched in July 2010. It is the ideal tractor for farmers with small land holdings of 2-5 acres who are looking for superior, affordable mechanization.

The domestic tractor industry showed a robust growth in the current quarter with sales growing by 28.2% over Q2 last year. The company’s performance during the quarter with domestic sales of 54,585 tractors under the Mahindra & Swaraj brands and a sales volume growth of 28.5% over the Q2 last year, was even better than that of the industry. The company’s market share during the quarter was 41.2%. The company exported 3102 tractors in Q2. The engine business revenue grew by 24.9% to Rs. 208.1 Crore in Q2 F2012 against Rs. 166.6 Crore for Q2 last year.
