Hyundai CE launches 34 ton excavator designed and manufactured in India Print E-mail

Bangalore: Hyundai Construction Equipment India Pvt. Ltd.(HCEIPL), a subsidiary of Hyundai Heavy Industries, Korea, has launched a 34 tonne R340 LC-7 excavator specially designed and manufactured in India for heavy construction, marble, granite and quarry application.

The operating or total weight of the machine is 34 tonnes, with an engine power of 260 HP (191 KW) at 1750 rpm. The bucket capacity of the excavator is 2.1 m3 GP (General Purpose), 1.76 m3 RB (Rock Breaker).

Hyundai is present in India with its wide range of Crawlers, Wheeled excavators varying from 8 tonne to 80 tonne and Wheel Loaders (HL760 and HL770). These excavators and wheel loaders are fitted with engines from Cummins and Hyundai.

During the year 2010, Hyundai sold 1275 units and captured a market share of 11% in the Indian excavator market and is positioned at No.3.

The company's manufacturing facility is set up over 50 acres of land at Chakan near Pune in Maharashtra with an initial investment of Rs. 300 crore in 2007. The plant offers  customers across India and neighboring countries, Hyundai's advanced 20T machine i.e. R210-7, R215LC-7 and R220LC-7 besides R110-7 excavator and the R340 LC-7 excavator.

To cater the needs of high end customers of niche business application Hyundai imports high end excavators ranging from 30T to 80T such as R500LC-7 and R800LC-7 from Korea.
