Setco Auto and FTE form JV for Clutch Actuation Systems Manufacturing Print E-mail

Mumbai: FTE Automotives, a leading Clutch and Brake manufacturing company from Germany joined Setco Automotive Ltd, a leading clutch manufacturer from Mumbai in a 49:51 joint venture – FTE Setcon Automotive - to manufacture Clutch Actuation Systems for cars and commercial vehicles.

Globally FTE has about 50% market share in the Hydraulic Brakes and Clutch systems of passenger cars and commercial vehicles.  Their clients include Audi, Ford, BMW, GM, Hyundai, Volvo, Skoda , Volkswagen, Mercedes-Benz  and Suzuki.

Setco Auto Ltd. Is the leading manufacturer of clutches for the medium and Heavy commercial vehicles in India.  Setco clients include Ashok Leyland, Tata Motors and Eisher Motors.

The agreement to manufacture Hydraulic Clutch Actuation Systems and Components for passenger cars and commercial vehicles was signed by Mr.klaus Glocker,  CEO, FTE Automotive and Mr. Harish Sheth, Chairman an Managing Director, Setco Automotive Ltd in Mumbai .

" FTE technology uses Plastic and Aluminum to manufacture clutch actuation systems instead of the conventional Cast Iron, a technology already used in Europe. This change in material reduces the weight of vehicle by about 2 KG and contributes to reduction in emissions and pollution " said   Mr Ian Elliot, Director Business Strategy and Cooperation of FTE Automotive.

FTE Setco Automotive plant is to come up in Maharashtra or Kalol in Gujarat at a cost of about Rs. 60 Crores. The production facility is expected to be complete in 2 years time.
