New Delhi: According to Mr. Alfredo Altavilla, CEO of Fiat Powertrain Technologies SPA,  the total value of component sourcing by Fiat from India would cross 500 million Euros this year. Fiat started sourcing components from India only 3 years back and it is steadily growing.

Fiat is manufacturing it's 1.3 Litre multijet diesel engines and 5 speed transmissions at the Ranjangaon production facility at Maharashtra. Tata Motors' new Indica cars will use Fiat's 1.3 Litre multijet engines.

Maruti is manufacturing these engines for the use in their cars under a license from Fiat at the Manesar plant. Fiat is trying to get more customers for their powertrains products in India.

Fiat is planning to bring in their high end cars like Ferrari, Alfa Romeo and Maserati for the Indian market. These cars would be directly marketed by Fiat.
