This new factory will be supplying auto components to ‘Tata–Nano’
Chennai : Rane Group – leaders in auto-component manufacturing, on February 18, 2008 broke ground on its first manufacturing facility in West Bengal. The new factory will extend its manufacturing support to Tata-Nano car. The Rs.200 Million project is set to begin construction immediately and be operational in July 2008. The new factory will cover 600 square meters of factory space in phase 1 set up in 5 acres area.
"The scope and scale of our manufacturing network gives Rane Group the ability to provide customers with high quality products in high volume and in the desired time frame," said Mr L Ganesh, Chairman, Rane Group. "The new factory will have world-class infrastructure and be an integral part of our manufacturing network while bringing us closer to our customer." Rane Group will be supplying Rack and pinion steering gears, lower control arms, steering columns and seat belts for Tata Motors Limited at Singur. All the products from Rane conforms to high quality standards as each of them undergo rigorous testing and validation under laboratory simulating conditions as they are all safety critical components. The Engineers from Rane worked in close tandem with Engineers from Tata Motors from the Product concept stage to get the best product in terms of performance. Rane is one of the first suppliers to finalize the concept as early as December 2005 and commenced the development activities for this project. Demonstrating its dedication to sustainable growth, the factory will be designed and built to minimize impact on the environment.
